The Sixth Form
Our Sixth Form Study Programme is designed to provide our students with structure and challenge, supporting their development and progression while reflecting the rigours and opportunities of higher education institutions. All students follow the programme outlined below:
- A-Levels: Our students typically study three A-Levels, except those studying Further Maths, who take four.
- Extended Project Qualification: Offered to our students at the start of Year 13.
During the summer term, Year 12 students complete up to four days of meaningful, career-appropriate work experience. Many also engage in regular, weekly work experience or volunteering related to their career goals.
We believe in developing well-rounded individuals. Therefore, in addition to their A-Levels, all Year 12 and 13 students participate in non-qualification activities:
- Wednesday Afternoon Activities: These include super-curricular activities (enhancing subject knowledge beyond the taught curriculum) or extra-curricular activities (sporting, musical, citizenship, or cultural).
- Research Studies Programme: Covering topics such as philosophy, the arts, ethics, consumerism, extended essay writing skills, and financial capability.
- Learning for Life Lessons (PSHE): Examining career choices, healthy living, and healthy relationships.
These programmes enhance our students' character, broader skills, attitudes, and confidence, supporting their progression. Additionally, all subject areas offer optional opportunities, including trips, visits, clubs, and competitions, which broaden our students' skills and knowledge. These opportunities are shared with students as they become available.
