Year 3 Applications for September 2027 Entry

Application Information

Applications for entry into Year 3 for 2027 will open on 11 September 2026. We would advise you to read the Year 3 Oversubscription Criteria in full before submitting an application.

Please see the information below for key dates:

• The Year 3 Open Morning will be held on Thursday 5 November 2026, from 9.30am to 11.00am, no appointments necessary. This event is for parents/carers who are interested in learning more about our Junior Department before applying for their child
• You must complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) if you wish to apply in Category 3, Church of England and Methodist. 
• The SIF must be signed and stamped by your religious leader and returned directly to the School by the deadline of 15 January 2027

Year 7 Applications for September 2027 Entry

Application Information

• Applications for entry into Year 7 for 2027 open on 11 September 2026. We strongly advise you to read the Year 7 Oversubscription Criteria in full before submitting an application.
• The Entrance Exam and Music Audition Registration Forms open on 11 September 2026 – please scroll down to read important information about the Entrance Exam/Music Auditions and to access the registration forms.

Open Evening

The Year 6 Open Evening will be held on Tuesday 22 September 2026 from 6pm - 8pm, no appointments necessary.

Submitting Your Application

• You must complete your Local Authority Secondary School application for your child by the national deadline of 31 October 2026.
• Please contact your Local Authority (to whom you pay council tax) if you have any questions regarding how to submit your application. We cannot advise on this.
• You may apply in as many of the categories, for which you meet the criteria.
• If you wish to apply in one of the faith categories (A2, Church of England and Methodist or A5, Other Christian Denomination and Other Faiths) for your child, then you must submit a Supplementary Information form (SIF) directly to the school. The deadline to submit your SIF is the 31 October 2026. Please scroll down for further information and to download the SIFs.
• Please note that parents/carers are responsible for submitting their child’s application by the published deadline.

Supplementary Information Forms (SIF)

• You must complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) if you wish to apply in either category A2, Church of England and Methodist or category A5, Other Christian Denominations and Other Faiths.
• Please read the Year 7 Oversubscription criteria carefully to ensure you meet the criteria to apply in category A2 (Church of England and Methodist) and category A5 (Other Christian Denominations and Other Faiths).
• The SIF must be signed and stamped by your religious leader and returned directly to The School Registrar school by the 31 October 2026 deadline.

Category B – Entrance Exam and Music Auditions

• Your child only needs to take the Entrance Exam or attend a Music Audition if you are applying under Category B1 (Academic Ability) or Category B2 (Musical Ability).
• These are not required for applications under any other category.
• There are 12 places available in Category B1 (Academic Ability) and 3 places available in Category B2 (Musical Ability).
• Please note that all of the categories are ranked separately and sitting the exam/ attending the music auditions does not increase your child's chances of being offered a place in another category.
• Children with an EHCP do not need to sit the Entrance Exam or attend the Music Auditions. If your child has an EHCP you will not apply through General Admissions for a Year 7 place. Your child's transfer to secondary school will be processed by the SEN team at your Local Authority. Please see the LA school admissions website for further information.
• Only children born between 01 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 will be eligible for Year 7 entry in September 2027 and can be registered to sit the Entrance Exam/attend the Music Auditions.
• Admission for any children born outside of these dates is classed as an "admission out of cohort". Please contact the School Registrar at admissions@kings.peterborough.sch.uk for further instructions.
• The Entrance Exam is being held on Saturday 3 October 2026. There is no other opportunity to sit the Entrance Exam.
• The Music auditions are being held on Wednesday 30 September, Thursday 1 and Friday 2 October 2026.
• The deadline to register for the Entrance Exam and Music Auditions is 3.25pm on Monday 28 September 2026. We are sorry but we cannot accept any late registrations.
• There is no other opportunity to sit the entrance exam/attend the music auditions.

Please read the below information before completing the Entrance Exam or Music Audition Registration Form:

• Please only complete and submit the form once
• Please take your time to read each question carefully and check the information you have entered is accurate and that there are no spelling mistakes.
• Please use standard capitalization when entering names. For example, please write John Smith instead of JOHN SMITH.
• Please use your child’s full legal name (no nicknames). This must be the same name that is used on Local Authority Secondary School Application form.
• The same parent/carer name must be used on all forms to apply for your child, including your Local Authority Secondary School Application form.
• Please use an email address that you check regularly.
• Please check that you have entered your email address correctly on the form (if your email address is entered incorrectly, you will not receive a copy of your responses).
• If you make an error, please email admissions@kings.peterborough.sch.uk and state your child’s full name and DoB in the subject line. We will update the registration form for you. Please do not submit multiple registration forms.
• Entrance Exam - a copy of the registration form and the registration document that contains instructions for the day will be automatically emailed to you once you submit the registration form. Please print this out and bring it with you on the day of the Entrance Exam.
• Music Auditions - a copy of the registration form and instructions on how to book your child’s audition slot will be automatically emailed to you.
• If you do not receive the automatic confirmation email, please check you have submitted your email address correctly. Please also check spam/junk folders before contacting the school.

Year 12 Applications for September 2027 Entry

Post-16 Open Evening

• The Post-16 Open evening for applications for September 2027 is being held on Thursday 5 November 2026, 5.45pm to 7.45pm
• Booking is required. Tickets will be available to book from October (date TBC) via a link on this page
• The rear School car park will be open for visiting parents/prospective students to park, however space is limited and we advise arriving early

Application Information for External Year 12 Students in September 2027

• We strongly advise that applicants read the Year 12 Admissions Criteria and subject requirements before submitting an application
• Applications for external students for Year 12 for September 2027 will open on Thursday 1 October 2026. Applications will close at 9.00am on Friday 4 December 2026. New applicants to the school must apply through our data collection partner, Applicaa. Full instructions on how to apply will be provided on this page from the Thursday 1 October 2026
• Current King’s Year 11 students must not apply via Applicaa. Parents/students will be emailed instructions on how to submit their application and option choices
