Welcome to Our School Admissions Page
Thank you for your interest in joining The King’s School family.
As an oversubscribed Church of England school, we strongly advise all applicants to read our Admissions Policy carefully before submitting an application. We do not have a catchment area, and all places are allocated strictly in accordance with our published oversubscription criteria.
Parents and carers can apply for a place at The King’s (The Cathedral) School for entry into:
- Year 3 (Junior Department)
- Year 7 (Secondary School)
- Year 12 (Sixth Form)

Visit Us – Open Evenings
We believe the best way to get a feel for our school is to visit us in person.
- Open Evenings for Year 7 and Year 12 are held during the Autumn Term, and we warmly invite you to attend. These events offer a chance to meet staff and students, explore our facilities, and learn more about our curriculum and community. Please click here for the 2025 open evening dates.
- Open Morning for Year 3 Applicants:
Held during the Autumn Term, this event is for parents/carers who are interested in learning more about our Junior Department before applying for their child. - Due to the high number of requests, we are unfortunately unable to offer individual tours of the school outside of these open evenings.
In-Year Admissions
Please note that all year groups are currently full. A place will only become available if a student leaves the school.
You may apply to have your child’s name added to the waiting list for Years 3 to 10.
Important Notes:
- We do not accept new students into Year 10 after the October half term, as they will be too far into their GCSE courses.
- We are unable to accept in-year transfers into our Sixth Form (Year 12/13).
Checking the Waiting List
To check your child’s position on the waiting list, please email:
admissions@kings.peterborough.sch.uk
Include the following details in the subject line of your email:
- Your child’s full name
- Date of birth
- Their current year group
Please note that waiting list positions are subject to change. We aim to respond within five school days.
Annual Reapplication Required
All in-year waiting lists are cleared by the Local Authority at the end of each academic year.
If you wish your child to remain on the list, you will need to reapply annually. You can reapply for the upcoming academic year from July onwards.
