We value, and strive to encourage, individual academic success, alongside musical, cultural and sporting achievements, within the Christian family ethos, which is central to everything we do. • Ex- King's student Hannah Wright returned to King's today to deliver two exciting GIS workshops to our Geography Students. As a Technical Relationship Consultant for @ordnancesurvey Hannah kindly volunteered to spend the day with the students to work through the flexibility and application of Geographical Information Systems.  GCSE geography students learnt the value of data layers and map building in responding to emergency flooding and the A Level geography students learnt the skill of selecting and adding data to create their own maps in the ICT workroom. Hannah started the session with an introduction to the huge range and flexibility of geography within the work place from careers such as catastrophe modelling to urban resilience consultant at the World Bank and Policy Maker for the Department of Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC). As part of the Geography GCSE and A Level curriculum specification, students need to be able to understand the opportunities and benefits of presenting and analysing geographical data through the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS). A Level students can use this skill to present their research when completing their own research projects next year. #geography #gis #mapping #educationRead More
