Running, Rugger & Cricket!

Cross Country

Many King’s pupils represented Peterborough at the Cambridgeshire Cross Country Championships in Cambridge on Saturday, with the following pupils now being selected to run for Cambridgeshire at the Anglian Championships: Ruby Blakeley, Harry Pinguenet, Frances Buckle, Katie Tasker, Charlotte Martin, Owen Wilkinson, Katie Wright, and Alfie McIntyre.

King’s made a long journey to Birchwood High School for a 1st XV fixture this week, missing a few key players. Despite this, the boys made a great start and were quickly on the score sheet with Ben Fitzjohn finishing a nice backs move. Birchwood then scored a converted try, before King’s bounced back with Ali Kanji slipping down the wing to put us back in front. They couldn’t hold onto their narrow lead as Birchwood scored again to make the half time score 12-10. The second half was somewhat ruined by the horrible weather, which saw both teams struggle to hold onto the ball. King’s edged in front with a penalty converted by Isaac Rowles, only for Birchwood to score their own penalty with just minutes remaining. The final score was an agonising 13-15 defeat. Man of the Match was Oliver Maddigan.

Indoor Cricket

The U13 team took on The Peterborough School in the first indoor cricket game of the season. King’s bowled first and managed to take 4 wickets, with Aman Ghafoor taking 2 nice catches. However the bowling was far too loose as we gave away too many extras. With the bat, King’s struggled to make runs, with only Oliver Muir (15) and Harry Pinguenet (11) making any significant progress, eventually King’s fell short of their target and lost by 5 runs. Man of the Match was Oliver Muir.
