The King's (The Cathedral) School

Sports Round-up w/c 10 September

Tennis and Rugby results

The U15 Boys' Tennis team played The Peterborough School in a playoff match this week. After the four singles and two doubles matches, the overall score was level, thanks to wins from our number one seed, Dan Wortley and our number three seed Will Lamin and another win for Dan in his doubles match with Tom Jackson. This meant a nail biting tie break with Dan and Will proving too hot to handle, easily winning to ensure an overall win for King’s and progression to the regional finals in Essex later this term.

The 1st XV Rugby team played St Ivo School in the national NatWest competition, against a team who beat us twice in games last season. A dominant attacking performance ensured an easy victory for King's, with 2 tries each for Ali Kanji, Sam Lomas and captain Ollie Maddigan, and one try apiece for Ben Fitzjohn and Oscar Dolan. Isaac Rowles also managed to kick 5 conversions to make the overall score 50-0! Man of the Match for his defensive play was Joe Pickering.
