St. Peter's House

Named after Saint Peter the Apostle, and wearing blue, St. Peter's House is guided by Mr Simon Warsap and Miss Anna Karsten. Always looking a strong outfit, in recent years St. Peters have benefitted from some truely outstanding individuals, yet overall have struggled to compete for the big prizes. Will this year be the one where they finally deliver on their promise?

Sports Day Review 2012

First of all, a big thank you to all those who participated in Sports Day and showed true dedication to the St. Peter’s House cause. Coming into Sports Day we were 3rd overall after a string of impressive performances: the Sixth Form boys won inter - house dodge - ball with superb efforts from Charles Wadsley, Charlie Kingston and Ben Carpenter. We had podium finishes for the Year 7’s and 8’s in blind football, an event designed to increase awareness for the upcoming Paralympic Games in the summer.

Sadly we weren’t rewarded for our efforts with any silverware but as House Captains we thoroughly enjoyed the day and were delighted with the efforts of numerous individuals. Such dedication was exemplified by Bobby Zizza who stepped into run 1500m just ten minutes before the start of the race. Such commitment was replicated across the House and there are too many people to thank personally but you know who you are.

Congratulations to St Chad’s house who were worthy winners on the day and to St Oswald’s for once again taking the overall House trophy, much to Dr Webster’s continued delight. A huge thank you to Mr Warsap and Miss Karsten for their continued support and enthusiasm, as well as all those who helped make the banners that adorned our gazebo.

With House Music just around the corner, St Peter’s has a good opportunity to showcase the hard work and determination that have so often provided the cornerstones of our House’s ethos. We look forward to the challenges House Music brings, as well as to working with the other House Captains over what we’re sure will be a fun and exciting year ahead.

The future is Blue.

House Music 2011 Review

Back in September work began for what was the mammoth task of ‘The House Music Competition 2011’. And so, four admittedly naïve House Captains began to rally the troops into the formation of a Junior Choir, Senior Choir, Orchestra and Finale. For the next five weeks, St. Peter’s House slaved tirelessly towards musical domination. The weeks passed, as our pieces grew to a standard the House could be very proud of, thanks, to the immense effort of all our blue warriors: Irena Radic, Hannah Butson, Ellie Beaumont and the beautiful blue band, to name but a few.

Finally, the day had arrived. The morning began with the magnificent tradition that is ‘Warsap’s Dream Speech’ that offered both hope and desire for what would be a blue dawn. As the House Captains embarked to Kingsgate to establish the front line, we were aided in our offensive by both The Music Department, our House Master and Mistress and the support and guidance offered by the other twelve House Captains. Opening the evening was our fabulous Junior Choir, which was very well received by the audience (you should be very proud of yourselves). To follow was a greatly improved Orchestral piece, topped off by a beautiful rendition of Ave Verum sung by our own majestic Senior Choir. Offering the sweet cherry for a charmingly iced bun was our final piece of the night ‘Let’s Dance to Joy Division’ sung with gusto by the entire Peter’s Platoon.

We hope you all enjoyed the experience as much as we did. Unfortunately the result was not reflective of how we believe you performed, however we are very proud of your efforts and hope that it has set the Blue Peter’s ship sailing ready to recompense in future years.

Sports Day Review 2011

On Friday 1 July, the House Captains embarked on what is undoubtedly a baptism of fire! Despite the best preparations, the entire day was hectic but great fun, thanks to all the hard work and support shown throughout the great house of St. Peters! We are so thankful for all the enthusiasm shown through sport, chanting and magnificent banners made by a number of talented St. Peters artists.

Many thanks to those who put in massive efforts in our aid, such as David Husbands, Pam Jacobs, the Randall Dream Team, Charlie Jones and Nathaniel Foster, and many more, all of which filled in, found replacements and ran their socks off! In spite of the vast efforts put in by many, we did unfortunately collect fourth place at Sports Day and subsequently fourth place in the standings for the House Cup, whilst St. Oswald’s proceeded in sweeping all the other available trophies.

However there was one victory they failed to grasp, this was the outstanding House Captains relay in which St. Peters were victorious! This included victory over not only the three other houses, but also the staff! The star of that race has to be Captain Charlie Kingston who managed to triumph against his main competitor Mr. Pinguenet, in what has been said by many of the sixth form to be the most majestic one hundred metres they had ever seen. And so, with that huge triumph in hand, St. Peters House now looks forward to the coming year, as the slate is wiped clean, and a blue dawn approaches.
