Fundraising Bulletin - Spring 2017
Progress has been made in setting up the Fundraising Committee. This is now a sub-committee of the Governing Body and its members include four members of the current Governing Body, senior teaching staff and members of the local community who have experience in fundraising. The experts co-opted onto the committee are Mr Adrian Oates at Nene Park Trust, Ms Caroline Graham at Sue Ryder and Mr Mark Smith at Travelex. The School welcomes them and thanks them for their time and hard work to date. The group will meet six times a year and act as a source of experience, expertise and knowledge as well as a focal point for this work. The committee will also be working with other groups such as the Old Petriburgians Association as well as the Parent and Staff Association to ensure a co-ordinated approach.
2016 School Walk Donations
The members of the School community - staff and pupils - have been thinking about how best to make use of the generous donations from the walk last year. To date, funds have been used for the following:
- to buy netball dresses (team kit) for matches against other schools
- to buy new basketball hoops for ‘The Cage’ and
- to fund transport to the European Youth Parliament
£5,000 has also been given to support Charities Week and will go to the School’s nominated charities for the year.
Recent Letter to Parents about Funding Cuts, 23 March 2017
The recent letter from Mr Ayling has generated significant support for the School as well as quite a lot of communication and discussion about how the School might further develop support.
School Tower Clock Appeal
Celina Worraker (Year 11) successfully completed her maiden sky dive from Stibson Airfield on Sunday 2 April 2017. She has obtained over £3,000 in sponsorship and there has also been over £700 given through the School’s Just Giving appeal. Thank you to Celina and all her supporters. The clock will be repaired and restored in due course.
Old Petriburgians Association (OPA)
We will be working closely with the OPA to reconnect with past students at the school. Whilst the School has remained connected with its students, in recent years, many of those from the '70s and '80s and before are lost to us.
Department for Education Condition Improvement Fund Bid
The School is pleased to announce that it has successfully bid for, and been awarded, approximately £62,000 to refurbish two biology labs. We will be publishing a separate news article about this shortly.
