Handball & Indoor Cricket News

A team of Year 8 boys played in the first ever Handball match this week against a strong but inexperienced Hampton Gardens team. King’s started dreadfully and ended the first third of the match 2-0 down. A strong tactical team talk and some clear instructions saw a turnaround in our fortunes and it was King's who took a 3-2 lead into the final third. Some great play from Man of the Match Louie Brooks saw King's hang on to their slender lead eventually winning 7-5 and progressing to the County tournament later this month.

Indoor Cricket

Our U15 Boys' Indoor Cricket team took on Stanground College in the final of the Indoor Cricket League this week. King’s bowled well in the first innings to restrict our opponents to 87 runs, taking 5 wickets, thanks to a final over from Daniel Laxton that saw 3 wickets fall. With the bat, King’s made a bad start losing several early wickets, however Alistair Clarke held his nerve and batted well to steady the ship, making 26 runs. This set up a tense finish, with King’s needing 9 runs from the final over. Thanks to some very generous bowling, we eventually claimed an easy victory winning 111-102 and have been crowned Indoor Cricket Champions.
