King's School Sailors Complete 24-Hour Event

On the weekend of 1 July, members of the King's School Sailing Club successfully completed the RNLI 24 Hour Sailing Race at Nene Park.

On the weekend of 1 July, members of the King's School Sailing Club successfully completed the RNLI 24 Hour Sailing Race at Nene Park.

The students sailed two boats for the full 24 hours, with our school Argo completing 135 laps and the Pico 116 laps of the lake.  Students also took turns to help propel another entry by a team from Nene Outdoors - A swan-shaped pedalo...

The team of students who sailed in shifts all weekend consisted of:‚Äč

Sebastian Higgins
Felix Higgins
Robert Aylemore
Freya Stephens-Dunn
Yagoda Worek
Sam Jarrett
Oliver Madigan
Seb Scaife
Lucy Royle
Yasmeen Hughes

Edwin Flack and Jacob Yates deserve a special mention, Edwin for allowing us to use his own personal Laser Pico dinghy as our second boat, and Jacob who helped enormously in the rostering of sailors.

It was also lovely to have visitors over the weekend who have previously left the school.  This group sailed during the early hours of the morning to enable our younger students to get some sleep, but also displayed an unhealthy interest in keeping the Swan Pedalo moving.

Many thanks to the number of parents who supported us, especially by providing a lovely BBQ on Saturday night and a full breakfast on Sunday morning!

The intention of the weekend was to raise money for the RNLI, so if anyone feels inclined to retrospectively support us please contact Mr Jarrett or Mrs Gray.
