Twelve high-performing students in Maths and Science went to Oxford University’s Institute of Physics for a University Taster Day on Energy and the Environment.

The event, on 6 June, was part of Oxford University’s 'Looking Forward' outreach programme, designed to get girls interested in science.  The girls had a great time meeting women (and men) who work in the fields of science, engineering and maths.   The day involved a mix of lectures on how the department and postgraduates are changing the world with their latest research alongside hands-on science in a variety of workshop sessions.

All the girls got a real insight into life at a top UK university and were full of questions and enthusiasm.  The main message was to study what you love and follow where it takes you; make the most of the opportunities on your way and you’ll be both a success and enjoy what you do.
